Ok, it's game time.  Get out the lawn chair, sit back and relax and let em' play right? Yea, pretty much...  This should be the fun part.  Except that most all coaches over coach. This is really the players chance to show you what they've learned. It's not about winning. This part is all about playing good soccer.  If they do that...then you win no matter what the score!

Mapping out your practice plans can be as formal as using this practice template or as simple as the back of a napkin.  I must confess that I use the back of a napkin too often.  That being said, the point is that I always do spend time planning it and I do write out a practice plan, even if it is on the back of a napkin...

Making the Parents a Team Member

Your team consists of the coach, the players and the parents.  Parents are an integral part of the team, whether they want to be or not.  Help them to help. Let them provide feedback, be a team manager, bring snacks, make signs or just be an avid fan. The sign and decorations on the right were all done by parents. Make them part of the team through setting clear expectations, lots of communication and getting them involved. Here's a sample team meeting agenda and story to share with them...
